In pictures: The Loony Dook 2012

One of Scotland’s stranger New Year’s Day customs is the Loony Dook, held at South Queensferry in the shadow of the Forth Bridges.

Thousands of revellers, in the name of charity, don outrageous costumes and dash into the Firth of Forth on the morning of January 1st. With last year’s event a sell-out, willing participants were this year encouraged to sign up as early as possible for the 2012 Loony Dook.
