Pictures and video show a double-decker bus after it crashed into a block of flats

Police, ambulance and three fire engines were rushed to the scene on South East Circus Place in Edinburgh at around 7am.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident has not been confirmed.

The road was closed at the junction with Howe Street and diversions were put in place for several hours.

Emergency services remained on the scene into the afternoon as fire fighters worked to remove the vehicle.

The Lothian bus was towed away at around 2pm. The owners of the affected building will need scaffolding to access it.

"I’m not surprised. When there’s snow and ice there’s problems coming up here. It’s a dangerous spot,” said Shona Campbell of Howe Street, which connects to Circus Place.

Candia Kingston said: “The poor people in the house, can you imagine that bus at your livingroom window?”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called to South East Circus Place in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh around 6.55am on Monday, 27 July, following a crash involving a double-decker bus.”

A spokesperson for Lothian Buses said: “We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in an incident this morning and we are assisting Police Scotland with their enquiries.”

Edinburgh City Council Shared Repairs service made sure the area was safe. Repairs to the building will be the responsibility of the owner.

A council spokesperson said: "Our Shared Repairs service was on-site this morning to assist the emergency services in making the area safe and establishing access for residents."
