Perth among top three contenders for Diamond Jubilee city status
The Scottish town received the least number of negative votes of all of the competing Diamond Jubilee city status towns, and received positive votes from 11 per cent of those questioned.
It is competing against front runners Bournemouth and Reading- as well as 24 other candidate towns spread across the UK.

Hide AdLondon’s Tower Hamlets district was voted least deserving of city status.
The most recent new city statuses to be handed out heralded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002, and included Stirling, as well as Preston in England, Newport in Wales and Lisburn and Newry in Northern Ireland.
