Personal details of former Hibs player Garry O’Connor posted on Twitter

FORMER Hibs striker Garry O’Connor has had his Blackberry Messenger contact details posted on Twitter.

The 29-year-old’s information appeared on the social network under an account purporting to be written former Celtic star Aiden McGeady.

The Scotland cap, who now plays for Russian side, Tom Tomsk, tweeted: “My bbm was given out by that fake McGeady account (@Aiden-Mcgeady86) police have been contacted bk home about how he got my details.”

The holder of the fake account, which has since been closed, issued an apology shortly after O’Connor’s Tweet.

It read: “I’m apologise to Garry for posting his private info on twitter, and emailing him pretending to be McGeady. When I got paid off from my job in the agency business I had your email @GarryOConnor and I took advantage.”

Police in Strathclyde and Lothian and Borders said they had no record of a complaint being made.

The former Birmingham City player left Hibs for Russia after his contract expired at the end of last season.
