Person rescued from island on River Clyde after police helicopter search

Police were searching for a missing person.

A person was sent to hospital by ambulance yesterday after a police helicopter found them lying on a remote island in the River Clyde.

The Police Scotland Air Unit helicopter was assisting Lanarkshire Police in a missing person search.

The person was given first aid and the Fire Service was called in to bring them to shore.

An ambulance was called for further medical assistance.

Police Scotland wrote on Twitter: “Helicopter crew spotted a person lying on a remote island, landed on and provided immediate first aid. @fire_scot quickly helped recover the person to dry land for an ambulance. #teamwork.”
