Christmas shoppers are being urged to buy the "gift of sight" for friends and transform the lives of blind and disabled people in developing countries.

Charity Sightsavers has launched its Gift of Sight catalogue, which has gifts from 5 for a pain-relieving trichiasis operation to 75 for a cataract operation that can enable a blind child to see.
