Watch this mystery woman dance through Glasgow dressed as a Christmas tree

A woman has been spotted spreading festive cheer to Glasgow residents while dancing in the streets dressed as a Christmas tree.

She was filmed in her season-appropriate attire on Nithsdale Road on Monday, December 14, by local resident Kirstie Swain.

Posting a video of the bizarre event on social media on Thursday morning - with Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses as a backing track - Kirstie told followers: “This woman danced past my flat the other day.

“Merry Christmas to her only.”

Her video has since been watched almost 150,000 times, and the mystery dancer has finally been identified.

Kate Deeming donned the Christmas tree outfit in an effort to spread joy and raise £5,000 for Pollokshields Primary School.

She has pledged to dance her way along 50km of Glasgow’s streets in the costume for the school, which she said has been “absolute ballast in the storm” for her and her son.

The fundraiser Kate is backing told supporters: “As locals we see how Pollokshields Primary, which is a marvellous school, provides a stellar commitment and care for the children.

“In this time of unprecedented change, school budgets are very tight and children are facing a whole host of new challenges,” it added.

Kirstie Swain told The Scotsman: “I was staring out the window when I was meant to be working and I saw the festive vision that is Kate dancing past my window like a tiny Christmas parade.

“All I want for Christmas are some moves like hers. She made my day!”
