BANDS arguing on stage, financially-adrift pop stars, Russell Brand’s unorthodox way of wooing women, and Lady Gaga’s new hat - with a difference.

Is Lady Gaga taking ‘Little Monsters’ too literally?

Bonkers electro diva Lady Gaga (she of meat dress and huge hats fame) has added another bizarre string to her bow with her latest fashion concept - a hat filled with cockroaches. The ‘Bad Romance’ singer has instructed designers to construct a hat filled with cockroaches - incorporating a netted cage for them to crawl about in. The idea doesn’t sound so zany when you learn that cockroaches were found to respond to Gaga’s music more than any other artist, and the New York star has naturally dubbed them her ‘real life monsters’. In fact, by Gaga’s standards, this sounds almost normal...

Stones Roses set to complete tour despite rocky interlude

Any band with Ian Brown fronting it must surely be at risk of blowing up at any moment - after all, this is the man who was once arrested for being ‘too cheeky’ on a flight from Paris to London and subsequently jailed. During one of the first concerts since the Stone Roses’ surprise reunion this year (announced via text message), tensions between the volatile frontman and drummer Reni appeared to show when the drummer failed to reappear for an encore. A backstage source said that Reni had refused to play an encore and had instead headed back to the band’s hotel. Fear not though - we hear it was blown out of proportion and the Stones Roses will be making their scheduled appearance at T in the Park this year. Altogether now, ‘I’m no clown, I won’t back down.....’

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the Irish heartthrobs were serenading us with ‘Swear it Again’ and ‘Flying Without Wings,’ but spare a thought for unofficial frontman Shane Filan. On the eve of launching a solo career designed to rival that of ex-Boyzone member Ronan Keating, Filan has been declared bankrupt, after the property development business he co-owned with brother Finbarr, was placed in receivership. Shafin Developments is said to have suffered huge losses in the well-documented property crash in Ireland. Mind you, with 28 platinum records and having sold over 40 million CDs worldwide, he might be able to auction a few off for a bit of spare cash.

How to woo a lady in two steps, by Russell Brand

Thousands of men the world over cursed his existence when he shacked up with ‘Teenage Dream’ singer Katy Perry, but a rather vitriolic split has seen both Russell Brand and Perry back on the market - and Brand has displayed rather unorthodox techniques when it comes to women.

Whilst filming a video clip for MSNBC’s website, Brand threw a cake at 28-year-old Emily Hartridge, one of the company’s video presenters, and tried to kiss her. When she protested, Brand - who goes by the moniker ‘rustyrockets’ on Twitter - licked the cake off her arm and asked an aide for her phone number. Apparently the pair have been texting ever since but a word to the wise - don’t stockpile cakes if you’re seeking to ensnare a significant other.

Chris Brown involved in nightclub altercation

Just when we thought Rihanna’s ex was starting to mellow, we hear he’s been involved in a fracas with rapper Drake and his entourage in a Manhattan nightclub they were both attending. It seems that Brown and Drake have been embroiled in a simmering row over the latter’s involvement with Rihanna - but Brown is said to have sent a bottle of champagne to Drake’s table as a peace offering, which was duly returned with an inflammatory note. Details aren’t clear but onlookers allege that Brown was hit in the face by a bottle thrown during a skirmish in the club, and proceeded to spend a couple of hours tweeting about the incident before packing himself off to hospital just in case. Safety first, Chris, safety first...
