'There was even a man standing on top of his van to see': Edinburgh dad takes snap of parents watching their kids play footie

An Edinburgh dad took a photo showing other eager parents going to extreme lengths to watch their children play football.

Jamie Brodie from Sighthill had taken his 12-year-old Calum to Dundee to play football.

Current restrictions means that the public are not allowed to enter stadiums grounds to watch, and Jamie said that many other parents were finding creative ways to view matches.

It is understood a girls match was also taking place at the venue.

He explained: “It’s not the fault of the clubs.

"One of the dads had a ladder with him so he could see over the wall.

"Some had poked a hole in the hedge, and were bending down to try and see through the hedge and the fence behind it.

"There was even a man standing on top of his van to see.”

Jamie himself was able to climb on top of a nearby wall to watch his son play.

He said that they were all socially distanced while they tried to watch the game.

He continued: “Calum has training three times a week at Ormiston, the Hibs training ground.

"We drive through from Sighthill three times a week, and all the parents just have to wait in the car as they aren’t allowed to watch.

"I’ve started running during this time now to try and raise money for the Edinburgh Cat and Dog home.”

Fans might recognise Jamie’s name from a series of Come Dine With Me, set in Edinburgh that aired in March this year.
