Baby Aria Grace was born at around 2am on August 20, arriving 16 days early in her fathers arms just minutes before her parents made it to the hospital.

Jayne Leck, 36, went into labour at 11pm on Wednesday August 19 and decided a couple of hours later when her waters broke that it was time to head to the hospital.

Jayne said: "I was mortified. I kept thinking to myself 'I can't have this baby in the back of a taxi'.”

But the baby had other ideas and began to make her appearance as the trio approached the turn off for Glasgow Airport on the M8, with dad, Francie Quinn, jumping into action as Jayne shouted: “The baby’s coming.”

Francie said: "I didn't believe her at first and I was telling her to hold on.

"I was worried when she came out - she wasn't even crying. I turned her over on her stomach and she started then and I wrapped her up in a towel.

"It was an unbelievable experience. I don't know a lot of dads who get to deliver their own baby. I just fell in love with her straight away.”

He added: "I can't wait to tell all her friends when she is older that I delivered her.”

Jayne called ahead to the hospital to arrange for a room and when they arrived a maternity team were on hand waiting for them in the car park.

Giving birth with only two paracetamols worth of pain relief, Jayne said: "I felt totally shell-shocked - it all happened in a heartbeat.

"It felt like 20 minutes between my waters breaking and the baby being born but Francis says it was two hours.”

Between them, Jayne and Francie have three daughters between the ages of 17 and 24 from previous relationships.

Jayne said the past year has been incredible and topping it off with having the baby in the back of a taxi could only happen to them.

She added: "I wouldn't change things for the world."She's perfect."
