Rosie Atkins: Fundraiser set up to help with funeral costs after death of young Edinburgh mum in flat fire

A fundraising page has been set up to help a heartbroken family with the funeral costs of a young Edinburgh mum who lost her life last week.

Rosie Atkins was just 28 when she was killed in a flat fire in Oxgangs Park on Saturday, November 14.

She was mum to three young boys, Joshua aged 14, Mylo aged eight and Charlie aged six.

The family has spoken of its heartbreak and devastation at the loss of Rosie, as well as its struggles to afford funeral costs.

Rosie’s brother Jack explained that relatives want her to be buried so that her children will have somewhere they can go to spend time with her.

He said: “Rosie was the most amazing caring loving most happy woman on the whole planet.

"Bursting with emotions of all kinds with the most adventurous personality and one of a kind in this world.

"She was loved and cherished by all whom came across her and especially her family and children.

"She was a beautiful young woman who loved her family and her three children very, very much."

He added that the family was finding it very hard to come to terms with the loss, saying: “We will never ever be the same without her.

"We will miss her for all eternity, we will miss her infectious laugh, her beautiful bright eyes and potent smile and caring attitude towards everything and everyone she loved.

"We would do anything to have you with us Rosie and until we meet again we promise to take care of the boys for you.

"We will celebrate every birthday and most of all celebrate your life with us as a wonderful daughter, amazing sister and most of all a fantastic mum.”

Jack concluded: “Tears roll down my face as I describe how wonderful my little sister was.

"Love you always Rosemary, from your loving mum Margaret and your sons, brothers and family for far and wide.”

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital after the fire, and the police are not treating it as suspicious.

The fundraiser has currently raised just over £500 of its £2500 target.
