Sadly, due to his condition, the 12-year-old is now unable to do activities other children his age can, such as skateboarding or riding a bike.

But David, who is a huge James Bond fan, was thrilled last week when he got to meet his idol Sir Roger Moore.

The youngster, who particularly loves the film, ‘Moonraker’, turned to the Make-A-Wish UK foundation who made his dream come true.

David, from Forfar, travelled to Bath and enjoyed watching his idol in ‘An Evening with Sir Roger Moore’, before being whisked backstage to meet the man himself.

He didn’t know he was meeting Sir Roger after the show.

Sir Roger gave David a signed book and some photographs and spent time looking at David’s ‘Bond’ book with him.

David said: “It was a huge surprise when he came out to meet me after the show,

“I didn’t expect that at all – I was in shock. He looked really smart – almost as smart as me in my suit - and he was a really nice man. It was great to finally meet my favourite actor. When I told him I was Agent 0012 he told me I was 001!”

Sir Roger Moore said: “It was a real pleasure to meet David and his knowledge of all things Bond was amazing. He is a brave and lovely young man who deserved a day to remember.”

David’s diagnosis was devastating for his family, as there is no cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

He is on medication to control the symptoms, but as the condition progresses David’s mobility will get worse.

David was also diagnosed with a heart condition, Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome, in May 2015 and is due to have an operation for this.

He is also waiting to see if he’s suitable to take newly licensed medication which will aid his mobility.

Grandma Catherine said: “The wish has meant a lot to the whole family.

“David’s condition is life-threatening and we don’t know how long he will be here for.

“Therefore the most important thing is for him to have lots of happy experiences, which is what the wish gave him. It is incredible that he met his idol and it’s something he will never forget.”
