Power cut in South Queensferry after reports of 'explosion' at power station

Residents in South Queensferry have suffered a power cut after it was reported there was an 'explosion' at a nearby power station.

A post by SP Energy Networks stated that they were aware of the power cut and that their engineers were working to restore supplies, the firm also apologised for the inconvenience but didn’t state what had caused it.

However, one resident contacted the Edinburgh Evening News to say there had been a “loud bang”.

It was later confirmed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) that there had been a fault at a local electrical substation.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: “Two appliances were sent to a fault at an electrical substation near Shore Road at around 2.40 pm this afternoon. The situation was soon under control and no-one was injured in the incident.”
