Hide AdHe has been out of contact with friends and family since the evening of Wednesday, December 9 and officers are growing increasingly concerned about his welfare.
Inspector Scott Simpson said: "It is out of character for Michael not to be in some sort of contact with his family for such a lengthy period.
"We do not believe he was wearing clothing suitable for winter weather and that also gives us cause for concern.
"Extensive enquiries are ongoing to try and establish his whereabouts and his movements on the night he went missing.
"“If you have any information at all, even if it seems of little significance to you, it may help with our enquiries so if you think you have seen someone matching Michael's description then please come forward.
"Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 3005 of December 11."
Michael is described as being white, 5ft 8in tall and of slim build with greying short brown hair.
When last seen he was wearing a distinctive dark coloured short sleeved top with white stripes on both sides. He was also wearing dark coloured trousers.
