Police issue appeal after pensioner injured in own home by robber

TAYSIDE detectives are hunting the masked robber who injured a female pensioner in a “despicable attack” during an attempted robbery in Perth at the weekend.

The 68 year-old woman sustained a facial injury when she confronted the robber in her home at Bridgend Court, Perth, at 7.30pm on Sunday night.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said:”The 68 year-old woman was injured in an attempted robbery. The victim was confronted by a man who had gained entry to her home and demanded money. The man was unsuccessful in his attempt to obtain money and made off empty handed.

“The woman suffered a facial injury as a result of the incident and was treated at the scene by paramedics. She did not require hospital attention but will require further treatment.”

The spokesman added: ‘‘This was a despicable attack on an member of the community which has left a woman injured. We are certain that the community shares our disgust at this man’s actions and we would appeal to them for their assistance in identifying him.’’

Her attacker is described as being 5ft 8 ins tall and of medium build. At the time he was wearing a black-coloured soft leather jacket, thick black gloves, black shoes and a black balaclava which only had his eyes exposed.
