In pictures: Paul McBride’s home goes on the market

THE luxurious townhouse which was home to one of Scotland’s most respected criminal lawyers until his sudden death earlier this year has gone on the market.

The property, located in the West End of Glasgow, was shared by Paul McBride QC and his partner, and is regarded as one of the most sought-after addresses in the city.

The two-storey townhouse, which has four bedrooms, is described by agents handling the sale as “perhaps the most luxurious apartment in the Park area” of Glasgow.

Mr McBride was found dead on 4 March at the Peal Continental Hotel in Lahore while on a business trip to Pakistan. A post-mortem examination concluded that the 47-year-old had died from natural causes.

The Georgian townhouse, which dates back to the late 1850s and was converted from offices, was shared by Mr McBride and interior designer Gary Murphy.

The exclusive address saw them become neighbours with the likes of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The couple redecorated the house extensively, and the property featured in the pages of the Home and Interiors Scotland magazine two years ago.

They furnished it with a £7,000 gold-painted, super-king- size sleigh bed, a Villeroy & Boch bath that Mr Murphy claimed in the magazine article was as deep as a swimming pool, and cowhide textured wallpaper in one of the four bathrooms.

The property is on the market at offers over £725,000. The firm handling the sale, Rettie, claims the duplex apartment offers “a perfect mix of the magnificent townhouse style grandeur with the highest possible internal specification”.

Mr Murphy was unavailable for comment.
