Ex-Currie High School student Peter appeared on BBC’s Good Morning Scotland on Wednesday to talk all things baking.
He said: “I just don’t think it’s completely sunk in to be honest.
"It’s an absolute dream.”
At 20-years-old, Peter is the youngest person ever to win GBBO, and the first Scot to do so.
He explained that he watched the final in his student flat in Edinburgh with his flatmate, two of which didn’t know that he’d won.
"I made the classic bake off cake that you see in the title sequence to share and celebrate with” he said.
With current coronavirus restrictions, Peter was unable to have any larger celebrations.
"Last night it would have been fantastic to have a big party with all my friends.
“Although not as it could have been, it’s still been a fantastic experience.”
The Baby Faced Assassin (as dubbed by Noel Fielding) added that he felt like he was in a ‘really privileged position.’
Previous winners of the baking competition had gone on to make a career out of their victory, and Peter has said that he is grateful he has so many options open to him.
He explained: “I’m going to keep doing with my degree.”
He ended by laughing that, despite his new accolade, he won’t be making the festive showstopper in his family.
“My mum bakes the Christmas cakes” he said, “so she has got the Christmas cakes baked already.”
