Creepie, aged four months, was walking off the harness when he went missing on Saturday.

A kitten going for a walk in the countryside vanished inside a van when he was spooked - and his devastated owner is desperately trying to find him.

Creepie, aged four months, a black Oriental-cross kitten with distinctive big ears, angled eyes, sharp face and a long tail, was walking off the harness with owner Jet Sable, 31, when he went missing on Saturday.

The kitten, who has not yet been microchipped, is scared of people and had been spooked by a chatty family in a car park near the Gryffe Reservoir, Inverclyde.

Creepie, who loves water, had been walking by a lake with Jet, who says he would stay close to her when off his harness for hours.

But as they approached the car, Jet spotted a family carrying paddleboards, and scooped the shy puss into her arms as he is frightened of people.

Creepie wriggled free when he was spooked by children shouting, and Jet fears he hid inside a white van - and is trying to get him back, with a £500 reward for the person who finds him.

Jet said: "On the day it happened he was by the lake with me off harness.

"He stayed by my side the entire few hours I was there.

"We then walked through the fields back to the car and he was beside me the entire time like he always is. Only a few metres from the car was the van.

"He doesn't like people and I didn't expect anyone so I grabbed him and the kids there were shouting, excited to see a cat walking beside me but he got free and went under the van."

Due to her anxiety, Jet froze and was unable to think what to do - and the last time she saw her cherished pet, he was underneath the white van she believes he hid inside.

She added: "I saw him under the van and then he disappeared. I guess I just wanted them to be quiet and go away so he'd come out. I really just couldn't think. I let them leave and seconds later it was so apparent that he was with them.

"I know my cat and he would have come to me instantly.

"I stayed there all night and have been going back even though I knew he wasn't there. I don't know why I didn't get their number.

"It was only after that I could think and think about how cats can climb up inside vehicles."

Jet, who lives in Greenock, Inverclyde, is desperately missing Creepie, along with partner Grant Girvan, 33, and his adopted sister Salome, aged one, is constantly looking for him.

She added: "I'd do anything to get him back, I'd genuinely give a limb.

"He's my best friend in the short time he's been here."
