Bride Tamarin Fountain was looking forward to her mother, Rosalind, arriving a few days before her wedding, on 21 March on a FlyBe flight from Bournemouth.

However, she is now forced to look for an alternative route which is likely to take her three times as long.

Ms Fountain, 39, an entertainer, said: “Since I moved to Edinburgh, the easy FlyBe route from here to near my mum was my lifeline - my family have used it so often. My mum was due to fly up on the Thursday before my wedding and she had everything prepared - when she got on the plane the airline had said they would hang her dress up for her.

“Now, she is going to have to get a combination of buses and trains and it will take her three times as long. My aunt, who was going to be travelling with her, may now not be able to come at all as her husband isn’t well and there is a big difference between her being a short flight away and what is now essentially a whole day’s travel.

“I’m not too concerned long term as I’m sure another airline will take over the route, but it has added an extra stress to my wedding. I’m just lucky that it didn’t happen just before and we still have two weeks to make plans.”
