Interview: Jason Maza, actor

Some quikfire questions with the Demons Never Die star

Who would attend your fantasy dinner party and what would you eat? Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando and Michael Jackson. I’d give them the best of British – fish and chips.

Whom did you last text and what was the message? Steven Spielberg, to tell him he still hasn’t got back to me.

It’s not cool but... I’m a fan of musicals.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Enjoy the journey.

What’s the worst job you ever had? A waiter. I lasted two shifts. I’d get these amazing tips and then have to split them with everyone else, when some of the other waiters were rubbish.

What are you afraid of? Things that are not in my control, but I’m working on that.

Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it and why? On one of my first acting jobs there was a big group of lads who called me Romford, as I live in Essex. Luckily it never stuck.

What situations make you lose your temper? People being dismissive of others, just because they’re young.

If you could choose a profession that you would like to try, what would that be? Coaching a female volleyball team in the run-up to the Olympics. I think that’s the kind of work that must be really rewarding.

What food or drink is always in your fridge? Diet Coke. I wish I could say chocolate but I only have to look at a chocolate bar and I put on half a stone.

If you could change something about yourself, what would it be? How long have we got?

If you could travel back in time, where would you go? Back to the 1966 World Cup final. After all, let’s face it, that ain’t happening again.

Who or what is the love of your life? My loved one (they know who they are) and acting.
