Heartbreak as the body missing dog Angus who was swept away in Scottish river found

The springer spaniel was washed over a waterfall in Fort William.

The search for the missing dog Angus, who was swept over a waterfall in Fort William has ended in heartbreak.

A friend of owner Andy Curran was walking Angus at Lower Falls in Glen Nevis on Saturday, September 5 when the accident happened.

An appeal was made and an award offered, as it was initially thought Angus had been found by someone else who had taken him home with them.

The Facebook page Help Bring Angus Home was created in an effort to spread the word, and the reward, partly supported by a Crowdfunder, reached £2,000.

A post on the Facebook page today broke the sad news.

The post said: “It is with the saddest and heaviest of hearts that I have to give the sad news that Angus has been found.

“He was spotted in the river today at approximately 1400hrs by a kind man at a section of the river that had been checked many times before but with the current levels of water he may have been stuck somewhere and forced free today.

“I want to give the utmost thanks to every single kind hearted soul who has given their time, support, donations and help in the search for Angus.

“I would particularly like to mention Helen, Davie, Penny, Kenny, Colin, the Lochaber athletics club, Glen Nevis Estate staff, John Muir Rangers, Drone SAR for lost Dogs, the Scottish Springer Spaniels Group, Nevis radio, cyclists, kayakers, dog walkers, tourists, family and friends.”

The money from the Crowdfunder will be donated to Drone SAR for lost Dogs and the Lochaber Mountain Rescue.
