Great Britain face trip to Canada for Davis Cup opener

Great Britain will travel to Canada in the first round of the Davis Cup in February.

The World Group draw for 2017 opened up the possibility of a repeat of the Wimbledon final between Andy Murray and Canadian number one Milos Raonic.

The tie will take place from February 3-5, the weekend after the Australian Open, meaning a lengthy trip for all involved.

Because the last tie between the teams was before 1970 - a victory for Britain in Bournemouth in 1967 - the host country was decided by lot.

Britain’s defence of their Davis Cup title ended in the semi-finals last weekend with defeat by Argentina while Canada, semi-finalists in 2013, beat Chile to maintain their World Group status.
