Easyjet announces flights to more destinations from Edinburgh and Glasgow in August

Budget airline also puts all flights on sale for next summer as travel industry begins its recovery from coronavirus pandemic.

Easyjet has announced flights to more popular European destinations from Scotland will resume from August – and the low-cost carrier has also put all flights on sale for Summer 2021.

In June, flights began operating for the first time since the airline grounded its fleet at the end of March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From August, easyJet will resume flying to more destinations – including from Edinburgh to Berlin and from Glasgow to Amsterdam, Jersey and Bordeaux – in addition to a range of routes already operating throughout July.

What's more, the budget airline is also launching flights on several new summer routes for the first time – including from Glasgow to Dalaman in Turkey from August 1 and Barcelona from August 6 – with fares available from £19.49 at easyJet.com.

EasyJet has also today put its full Summer 2021 schedule sale, so in addition to last-minute deals still available for this summer, customers now have the chance to book early and make huge savings on summer holiday flights for next year.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “We are really pleased to be able to be resuming flights from Scotland to even more destinations throughout August to get customers away on their much-needed summer holiday this year.

“Of course, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remains our highest priority. This is why we have implemented a number of measures enhancing safety at each part of the journey from disinfecting the aircraft to requiring customers and crew to wear masks.”

Easyjet says these measures will remain in place for as long as is needed to ensure customers and crew are able to fly safely as the world continues to recover from the impact of the coronavirus crisis.

Here are the safety measures for easyJet customers

– Wearing a face mask is required when flying with easyJet, including cabin crew.

– Easyjet says passengers have to bring their own masks and that customers are encouraged to wear one before arriving at the airport.

– A mask has to be worn at the boarding gate and all the way through during the flight.

– Anyone not wearing a mask or refusing to wear one will be refused when attempting to board the flight.

– Children over the age of six are required to wear a mask.

– To ensure full safety whilst wearing a mask, easyJet have said masks should be replaced every four hours.

What if you can't wear a mask?

EasyJet have said: "If you are unable to wear a face mask for medical reasons you will be exempt from doing so as long as you have a medical exemption letter from a doctor stating that you cannot wear a face mask (which must be available on request for airport staff and crew to see) and also that you are fit to fly.”
