The pawnbroker, which was Edinburgh's oldest and longest established, has now been acquired by Ramsdens Financial Limited.

Customers who had jewellery or loans held in Duncanson and Edwards have been advised that their items are at Ramsdens new store on Shandwick Place.

Last week, owners made the announcement on their Facebook page saying: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Duncanson and Edwards. We can assure all our loyal customers that their items are safe and secure, all customers pledges and retail paydown items will be transferred to their new home in Ramsdens brand new store on Shandwick Place.

"Best regards and thank you all for being our customers.”
