Bookies set odds on Andy Murray's baby name

FREYA is the early favourite to be the name of choice by Andy Murray and Kim Sears according to Ladbrokes, while some sites are even taking odds on Baby Murray following her Dad into becoming a Grand Slam champion.

With the couple’s baby girl arriving safe and sound, the bookies are looking ahead to potential names, and it’s a host of traditional names at the top of the list.

Freya, a popular name in the Highlands, and which means ‘goddess of love’ according to the Scandinavian mythology, leads the way at 6/1, followed by Alexandra (7/1) and Elizabeth (8/1), or it’s a 10/1 shot the Murrays call her Grace.

At 50/1 it seems unlikely they opt to name their bundle of joy after Andy’s mother, Judy, however it’s odds-on at 5/6 she is honoured with a middle name.

David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said: “We’re thrilled the Murrays have welcomed their baby girl into the world. The early money suggests they’ll opt for a traditional name, with Freya edging favouritism.”

Other betting sites, such as Coral, are offering 250-1 odds that Baby Murray becomes a Wimbledon champion within 30 years, and 100-1 that she will win a Grand Slam.

William Hill were offering 500-1 odds for their child to be a Wimbledon winner.
