Andy Murray defeats Milos Raonic to win Wimbledon final

The No.2 seed and pre-match favourite won the match in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6.

Raonic, featuring in his first ever Grand Slam final, put up a brave fight, forcing Murray into winning two tie-breaks in a match where his serve was only broken once. However, in Murray he found an opponent just too strong.

Everyone talked about Murray’s returning ability and how it would combat Raonic’s impressive service game, but few expected the Scot to notch more aces than his thunder-serving opponent.

He won the first set after breaking Raonic at 3-3. It would be the only break he’d enjoy all day, but although the two tie-breaks added to the tension, Murray took command of both quickly and won them without a struggle.

Almost as important, Raonic only had two break points all day, both within the same game, as Murray dominated on his service through the contest.
