The accident happened the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road, North of Dundee, near the Petterden slip road, on Friday afternoon.

Both lanes of the southbound carriageway were closed for almost three hours to allow crash investigators to examine the scene.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said today: “Enquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are on-going and Tayside Division would appeal for anyone who may have information that could assist officers with their enquiries to contact Tayside Division on 101. As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
