Pensioner is tricked by bogus callers

A PAIR of bogus callers tricked an elderly victim into handing over a four-figure sum of cash after pretending they were collecting payment for roof repairs.

Two elderly residents were approached by the conmen in Coillesdene Avenue, Joppa, at around 1pm on Wednesday in separate incidents.

After being asked for payment for roofing work carried out on each property, one of the residents handed over cash while the other turned the pair away.
