Pensioner safe after blaze

A PENSIONER was treated for smoke inhalation after a small fire broke out in his home.

The blaze was sparked when a quantity of rubbish caught fire in the 70-year-old man's top floor flat on Loganlea Drive near Restalrig at about 11am yesterday, said firefighters. Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire. Three appliances from McDonald Road attended for a total of 20 minutes.

The man did not require hospital treatment.
