Pensioner dies after road collision

A PENSIONER who was seriously injured in a road collision in West Lothian has died.

James McNabb was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot panel van at around 11.40pm on Saturday in Main Street, East Whitburn.

The 77-year-old, who lived in the town’s Torbane Drive, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious head and leg injuries, but died last night.

Police said enquiries were ongoing.

A police spokesman said: “We are continuing with our enquiries into this collision, which has tragically resulted in a man’s death and we are keen to hear from anyone who can assist with our investigation.

“Officers are particularly keen to trace the driver and occupants of a silver seven-seater vehicle, possibly a private hire taxi, which is known to have travelled past the scene almost immediately after the collision before turning onto Hen’s Nest Road.

“Anyone who was within this vehicle is asked to come forward.”
