Pensioner attacked and robbed in Edinburgh street

A PENSIONER has been robbed by two men who pulled him to the ground and stole more than £1,000.

The 70-year-old man was attacked in Restalrig Road, Edinburgh, yesterday at 10.20am, while going to pay money into the Post Office.

The two robbers were white and between 18 and 20.

One of them was around 5ft 8ins, with slim to medium build, and short cropped fair hair, and was wearing a plain grey hooded top, with the hood up, and possibly jeans.

The other assailant was about 5ft, slim, and wearing a dark navy hooded top, also with the hood up, dark jeans and dark trainers.

A Lothian and Borders police spokesman said: “This has been a terrifying experience for this man who was walking a route he takes regularly when the two men set upon him.

“We would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who may have seen what happened, to contact us on 0131 311 3131.”
