Pensioner, 92, chases after sister's handbag snatcher

A HANDBAG thief was chased through the Capital by the 92-year-old brother of the victim.

The incident happened on Friday, June 17 at around 4.30pm, in Barnton Court. The 94-year-old woman was walking with her 92-year-old brother when they were approached by a person wearing a motorbike helmet, who snatched her handbag and ran off.

Her brother chased after the suspect, who was seen getting on a motorbike driven by another person. They then drove off along Barnton Grove towards Queensferry Road.

The suspect, whose sex is unknown, was around 5ft 5in tall and wearing a pale yellow anorak and a dark blue motorbike helmet.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to a bag snatch in Silverknowes Neuk at around 12.15am on Sunday, when a 44-year-old woman had her bag stolen.
