Pc to cover for funeral

A POLICE constable based in Portobello has travelled to Manchester to help cover for colleagues attending the funerals of two officers shot dead last month.

Pc Graham Piears will carry out duties in the city today and tomorrow.

Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone were shot as they responded to a burglary call on September 18.

The funeral of Pc Hughes, 23, was due to take place at Manchester Cathedral this afternoon, which will be followed by a service for Pc Bone tomorrow.
