They robbed a phone booth after drilling into the cash box before a three-figure sum of cash was stolen.

An hour later a similar raid was carried out on another kiosk on Saughton Road North. Again a three-figure sum of cash was again taken.

Police are now urging anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in either of these areas to get in touch.

A police spokesman said: “Almost £1000 has been stolen from the cash boxes as a result of these two thefts and we are conducting local enquiries in both Edinburgh and Musselburgh to identify those responsible.

“Anyone with information that can assist with our investigations is asked to come forward or call us on 101”.
