Park witness plea after pair robbed at knifepoint

TWO men have been robbed at knifepoint as they walked through a park in Glasgow.

Three men approached them and one lifted his track-suit top to show he had a knife, then they demanded money and mobile phones. The victims handed over a three-figure sum of cash and their iPhones.

The robbery happened in Bellahouston Park, near the Palace of Arts and the dry ski slope, at about 4:30pm on Wednesday.

The two men were not injured but were left very shaken.

The three suspects are all described as white, Scottish and aged 20-25. At the time of the robbery, the first was wearing a grey tracksuit, the second had a white hooded top and blue jeans, and the third was dressed in a green tracksuit.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for information.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old was attacked and robbed as he made his way home in Edinburgh.

He had just left the Boda bar in Leith Walk at about 1:10am yesterday and was texting on his mobile phone when two men came up and punched him on the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

One of the attackers stole his mobile phone and both made off.

The victim suffered swelling and bruising to his face and head, but did not require hospital treatment.

A police spokesman said: “This has been a random and opportunistic assault and robbery, which has left a young man with some painful injuries to his face and head.”

Both suspects were white, 17-18 years old, 6ft 2ins tall and of skinny build. One had short dark hair and was wearing a white top and jeans, while the other was wearing a dark top and jeans.
