The man behind the bare-faced product, Peter Cockburn, 67, from Bo’ness, said it was hoped the calendar would also serve as a morale boost for Royal Scots in Afghanistan.

He said: “My wife Jenny has been very supportive of the idea – she took my photograph for the calendar – and she’s already hinted this could the start of an annual event. At my age you don’t get embarrassed that easily.”

Sponsors XS Locksmith on Easter Road and Bo’ness Motor Company are to stock copies of the calendars, of which 500 have been produced.

Funds will go towards 1 Scots officers and soldiers and to support the bereaved families of personnel who have been killed in action.
