Papandreou vows to press on with cuts

GREEK prime minister George Papandreou, buffeted by public protests against his economic austerity policies, has vowed to continue with fiscal reforms and warns against "sirens" calling for Greece to default on its debt.

Mr Papandreou said "foreign taxpayers' money" was paying public sector salaries. He said the cuts would enable a return to growth in 2012.
