Pair carving out a future

APPRENTICE stonemasons from an Edinburgh college are taking part in a competition at a top training facility.

Two stonemasons from Telford College are among six showcasing their skills at the Scottish Inter College Apprentice Stonemasonry competition at Historic Scotland's facility at Elgin Cathedral.

David Mitchell, Historic Scotland's director of conservation group, said: "This competition is incredibly positive for the traditional skills.

"Maintaining Scotland's traditional building skills is essential in order to preserve Scotland's built heritage".
