Outlander's Sam Heughan: Irn Bru helps actors on set

OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan has revealed the secret to keeping cast members awake during long shoots - Irn Bru.

Sharing a picture of young French actor Romann Berrux - who plays Fergus in the hit TV series - with two bottle’s of Scotland’s other national drink, Heughan joked to his Twitter followers: “How to keep French boys awake during night shoots, sugar!!!”.

Some of the Scottish actor’s fans obviously enjoyed the joke, with one writing “Yep. Get ‘em hopped up on sugar and turn ‘em over to someone else.”

But another fan warned: “@SamHeughan Parent lesson no 1. Never give them the sugar hit. It won’t be pretty lol.”

Today also marks the birthday of Heughan’s screen alter ego Jamie Fraser, one day after the actor’s own birthday.
