When a junket comes around

Have your say

YOUR article on the Dutch design for a “cyclist-safe” roundabout carried welcome information for those of us who enjoy travelling by bike (News, 5 May). The fact that the Scottish Government is to examine the feasibility of introducing it is particularly welcome.

However, I wonder whether I am alone in questioning
the necessity for a visit to
Amsterdam by a delegation from Scotland to examine the application of the design. The illustrations carried in your newspaper seemed to me to explain the principle with
total clarity, and I am sure that any further questions as to its relevance to Scotland’s roads could be answered in the course of a video conference.Could it be that, despite the numerous means of communication available to officials in the modern age, the traditional junket still has not lost its allure?
