The “SNP forked tongue” article by Gregor Gall (Perspective, 29 June) hits the nail on the head.
It reminds me of a conversation I had a month ago with an English lady resident in Scotland who said she was going to vote for independence. In discussion with her, it turned out she was in fact not in favour of full independence but of devo-max.
It was a revelation for her as she hadn’t been aware of the direction of her thoughts until our discussion.
Well done Professor Gall. Your article is an excellent pointer to those who may have similar views, fancifully dreaming of independence yet wanting to maintain the benefits of remaining in the UK.
