Have your say

I agree with your article, “Why police horses shouldn’t be reined in” (20 November).

They lend the police an approachable quality – as anyone fortunate enough to have a sociable animal as a companion will testify.

While driving by the Meadows in Edinburgh yesterday evening, I happened to pass two of these noble beasts as they approached in the opposite direction.

Their riders (as in the photograph which illustrated your article) wore high-visibility jackets, and displayed flashing warning lights. However, the horses were not thus equipped.

When riding after dark, please could the police consider providing their mighty steeds with some high-visibility protective gear?
