CONGRATULATIONS to Laura Muir for her good run in Oslo, Norway. I had the honour 28 years ago of being present when two other 22-year-old Scots girls – Yvonne Murray, who I was coaching at that time, and Liz Lynch (McColgan) ran four minutes 1.20 seconds and 4min 1.38sec respectively in the 1,500 metres to be narrowly beaten in the last few yards by Sandra Gasser, later found positive.
Other British successes in the same meet were Sue Crehan who ran 32.24 for an English record at 10k and Diane Modahl who broke 2min for the 800.
A very good night for British women.
