Bias to the poor

On Saturday I visited the ruins of Carnasserie Castle, built for Bishop Carswell in 1559. I reflected on how the bishop managed to build such a magnificent edifice while the commoners around him lived in hovels.

Similarly, the Church of England was recently engulfed in a feud over female bishops. Christian churches continue to be self-absorbed while millions of people around them are dying of starvation and AIDS.

When will the Church have a real “bias to the poor” instead of being so self-absorbed?
