A new poll revealed more than half of Scots want to see stricter curbs on immigration – a stance strongly backed by Ukip.

The survey also suggested a third of Scots are likely to vote for Scotland to leave the EU if David Cameron holds an in-out referendum on Europe.

Ukip claimed a “general dissatisfaction” with the main parties would leave Mr Farage’s party in a strong position in future Scottish elections.
