THE Scottish Government came under attack yesterday over its position regarding EU membership and Scottish independence.

The SNP administration wants to negotiate the “specific terms” of an independent Scotland’s membership from within the EU.

Former SNP leader Gordon Wilson said yesterday that Scots should be given a referendum on membership of the European Union if the country votes Yes.

Commenting on his views, Former Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie said: “I can see the logic of that. I am surprised that his logic doesn’t extend to the current leadership on the SNP.”

Ukip leader Nigel Farage has also called for Scots to be offered a referendum on European Union membership if there is a Yes vote.

Claiming that Scotland would not be a truly independent nation unless it was out of the EU, Farage attacked Alex Salmond for failing to offer another referendum in the event of a Yes vote. In an interview with Scotland on Sunday, the Ukip leader said Scots were being denied “true independence” by Salmond.
