GORDON Brown has announced he will be stepping-up his involvement in the campaign against Scottish independence.

The former Prime Minister also called for a united agreement on extending devolution between the main Unionist parties to help defeat independence.

An agreement between the three main Westminster parties on extending devolution means a deal could be done and legislation put in place “far earlier than people think”, the ex-Labour leader added.

Mr Brown was speaking the day after the Scottish Conservatives unveiled their plans for further devolution in the event of a No vote in the referendum.
