Woolly policy

The Scottish Government announcement on sheep tagging (Farming, 28 January) is yet another example of an empty promise from terrified EU apologists. The European Commission (impelled by some dubious agreement between EU states) is determined to destroy sheep-farming by introducing an identity-tag for every sheep costing more than the animal itself.

Sheep-farming, by the way, is not a significant industry in the EU – except in Britain. No wonder our EU apologists have fallen over each other to declare they will "make their voices heard in Brussels" and stop this evil scheme. Nothing they have done has made any difference. The scheme is already in force and we shall see its effects all too soon.
