Winner took all

Dennis Grattan is wrong to say the £80 million
Euromillions jackpot from Friday, 28 September, was not won (Letters, 2 October). Far from “disappearing back into the National Lottery coffers”, the entire jackpot was won by a very lucky ticket-holder in Spain – meaning that the jackpot for Tuesday’s draw was an estimated £11m.

Even though a UK player wasn’t lucky enough to scoop the jackpot this time, more thab £3.6 billion in Euromillions prize money and more than £208 million Euromillions prizes have now been paid out here in the UK. On top of that, the UK has had more than its fair share of jackpot winners this year – with eight Euromillions jackpots won in the UK since the start of 2012.

As well as having the chance to win life-changing prizes twice a week, EuroMillions players in the UK are helping us to raise over £30m for National Lottery Good Causes each and every week – adding to the £28bn raised to date.
