Wheel deal

When I read your story about the planned Ferris wheel I immediately checked the date, and, no, it was not 1 April.

Whatever will the council think of next to destroy this city? They are but custodians, our elected deputies, yet they seem committed to a reign of destruction previously confined to despots and dictators.

Why anybody would even for a minute consider that a temporary fairground attraction is an appropriate addition to the setting of the castle, St John’s and St Cuthbert’s is quite beyond me.

May I remind your readers that there are elections very soon, and we then have the chance to rid ourselves of these people.

The comment (11 April) apropos Edinburgh Council’s money-spinning wheeze of putting a giant Ferris wheel in West Princes Street Gardens makes me sound more than usually geographically challenged.

My strikingly original, proposed alternative venue would be more accurately quoted as “East Princes Street Gardens”.
